This is an Ashcroft 1944 steam pressure gauge model P7234 from the Ashcroft company. This steam pressure gauge is a 0-100 gauge with a 1lb. SUBD and has a patent date on the inside of the gauge on the backside of the faceplate and it is Oct. 20 1944. The Ashcroft Co. was establish in 1852 in which they made pressure gauges for steam engine. I believe that this gauge was used on the old railroad steam engines for the main reason that is what the Ashcroft Co. focus on. It was also used on steams boats as well. The area that it was found only had railroad service in the 1940’s and not much in the way of steamboats. The Ashcrodt Company is still in business to this date. The gauge is missing the glass and is in a cast iron case. I do not know if it is in working condition.
