Paragon China Cup and Saucer Set

     The Paragon name evolved from the famous Star China Company, who began using the name in 1903. In 1920, the Paragon China became The Paragon China Company. The Paragon name has a long history with England’s Royal Family, who awarded the company a Royal Warrants, which begin in 1933 and lasted to 1963. Royal Warrants were only issued to companies that regularly supplied the Royal family with fine china. In the years of 1899-1940 Paragon was registered with only one hallmark. Evidence suggests that Paragon was not strict in the use of trademark and many mistakes arise because of unrecorded subtle changes from 1915 to 1933. From April of 1933, when Paragon was granted its first Royal Warrant of Appointment the Company incorporated in their hallmark the arms of the Royal Warrant Grantor. It was between 1938 to 1952 that the words “To Her Majesty The Queen” was add to the hallmark. Paragon often numbered their pieces using a pattern number for each series with a letter prefix and sometimes a suffix of /1, /2, etc., which designated the color of the pattern if the pattern was available in different colors. The Paragon name was discontinued in 1992. This pattern code is PARA6019-2, 1. (PAR stands for Paragon) the description given for this pattern is “Floral, Encrusted Edge, Pink Band, and Scallop”. It is in mint condition with no dents, cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, or wears-marks. In addition, it looks like it has never been used.
