This classic Sadler cube teapot has a beautiful bouquet design of flowers with one big pink rose in the center of the bouquet and is trimmed out with 22k gold on the emboss design feature, all hand painted. The James Sadler and Sons Ltd company was a pottery manufacturer in Stoke-On-Trent, United Kingdom and was founded in 1882 and ended in 2000 when the company went into receivership. The Churchill China Company purchased all of the right to the brand name and designs from the James Sadler and Sons Ltd Company. The Sadler Company first made the “Brown Betty” teapots using terracotta clay and finishing the teapots with a transparent glaze. They began making earthenware novelty shaped teapots in the 1930. There are many variations of this ribbon hallmark from 1930 to 2000. The hallmark on this teapot was started in 1937 and ended in 1947. Before 1930 or 1937 (?) the hallmark was, emboss on the underside of the teapot. The handwritten number on the underside is most likely what order the teapot pattern was made not the pattern's identity. The gold letters are mistily the art artist initials. Poor record keeping in the early years makes it difficult to identify the real date the teapots where made. It is in mint condition with no dents, cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, wears-marks, and has not been modified in any way. In addition, it looks like it has never been used.
