This oil feeder, known as the Railroad Tin Oil Feeder, was produced between 1907 and 1917. The location of its discovery was known for its numerous silver mines during the late 19th and early 20th century. It is possible that a miner modified the spoon to fit their specific needs or that the shorter spout was originally designed by the manufacturer. While no other oil feeders with a short spout were found, it cannot be ruled out that such a design was never produced. Unlike many oil feeders from that time period, it does not have a top handle or an over top wire handle. Despite its age of over 100 years, it remains in its original condition with minor dents from use, and the base shows expected wear and tear.
