This late 19th century to early 20th century hand stamped sliver plated serving tray has the maker marks of “B.R & R” and an “A1” following the first set of letters. The B.R & R would stand for the owner’s name (one or more) or the company’s name that made the tray. In addition, the “A1” stand for the quality of electroplaters. This grading system was used by the British and New England silversmiths and by the International Silver Company. The International Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silver-plated hollowware, silverware and other silver products. Unfortunately, many smaller silversmith companies that joined the International Silver Company lost their identity and maker’s mark that identified the companies. Ether they was lost or was never recorded or they changed their names after joining the International Silver Company. The tray was hand stamped not machine stamped. It is not in the best of condition. Same of the silver plate has worn off, and one foot is missing on the bottom. In addition, there is one small dent that did not show up very while in the photos.
