HEMINGRAY-42 Short Mold Insulator

This is an F-skirt Heminggray-42 insulator, which was made in the U.S.A. with 9 dots identification code. The Heminggray-42 CD-154 was one of Hemingray’s most popular and prolific insulators. Hemingray manufactured these insulators by the millions from 1921 to 1960. This style replaced the CD-152 insulators in 1921. Hemingray manufactured these insulators for use with telegraph lines. This insulator is the short mold variant which is slightly shorter than the insulators it replaced. These insulators are made in clear or nearly clear colored glass. One of the differences between the older molds and the newer molds is the drip point at the bottom of the insulators. The older insulators had, what is referred to as shape drip points and this insulator has the rounded drip points. What year this change took place is unknown to me. This insulator has some fleabites on the inside edge and other then that it is in excellent condition. At the bottom of the insulator on one side, it has “HEMINGGRAY-42” and on the opised side it has “MADE IN U.S.A.” and below that is 31-52 with two rows of dots, top row has five dots and below that there is a row of four dots.
