Press Glass Depression Candleholders

      Here is a pair of crystal-clear glass candleholders from the Jeannette Glass Company which was being produced in the late 30’s to the mid 50’s. The pattern is called “National Gift Ware” and was made by pressing hot glass into a mold with this pattern imbedded in the two-part mold. This pair of candleholders are made of a heavy glass with decorative raised embossing which some referred to as ribbons and has a scalloped like edge around the top perimeter. Jeannette Glass Co. produced the National Gift Ware line from the late 1930s to the mid-1950s. The National Gift Ware line was a heavy vertical ribbed pattern with tiny circles on the bottom but not all of the pieces produced had the tiny ringed circles in the bottom. Because of the heavy nature of the glass, this pattern was durable and not easily damaged. What was included in the National Gift Ware where relish dish, a covered candy dish, a sugar and creamer set, bowls of various sizes, pitchers, salt and pepper shakers sets, trays, a cigarette set, candleholders, and vases. This glassware was popular in both homes and eating establishments and remained in the Jeannette line for a good many years. Out of the whole line of National Gift Ware, these candleholders are some of the rear items to fined and antique dealers and collectors both are delighted when the fined a set of National Gift Ware candleholders. It is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, or wears-marks. In addition, it looks like it has never been used.
