Rose Pattern with Leaves and Stems

     Information on this cup and saucer set is hard to find. What is known is after 1891 the US Federal Law required all imports products coming into the United States for resale must have a hallmark stating country of origin. In the early 20^th century, china just used the plain word "china" up to 1919. In 1920 the words "made in" was added to the word “china” which was required from 1919 to modern times. The China ceramic and porcelain industry was not a number of  larger factories, it consisted of small business and family’s operation in which each one had a number of hallmarks they would use on their ceramics or porcelain products with no real record on the company, the family’s or the location. There is a great confusion about hallmarks on early Chinese porcelain and ceramics, since the rule of thumb in china was to put whatever mark they believe, would add to the value of the product. From 1930 to 1950 the hallmarks where haphazardly applied and the hallmarks was applied under the glazing. Made in china is the mark that is affixed to products manufactured in the early People's Republic of China. (the People’s Republic of China period was from 1949 to1966) It is assume that no marks with the full text "made in china" is before 1919 and more likely to be from the second WW or later. The floral design on this cup and saucer set is not applied under the glazing however it is stamped on top of the final glazing and the “made in china is also applied on top of the glazing. This pattern seems to be a rare pattern I could not find it in any of my research. The gold trim is either 22k or 24k gold, if it is real gold. It is in mint condition with no cracks, chips, necks, scratches, fleabites, repairs, stains, or wears-marks. In addition, it looks like it has never been used.
